Hello, beautiful humans. Nicole, here! Today, I want to share with you what is on my heart and mind for THE BIG TWO NINE, both in my personal life and business. Birthdays bring the gift of a new year, a fresh start, an opportunity for personal growth and positive change. So, without further ado, let’s dive right into 10 goals and intentions I have for TWENTY NINE!

Okay, but first, here’s me on my 29th birthday with a box of beauty and joy, aka Stans Donuts!
  1. Publish my first book in The Able Fables series,  “Gary’s Gigantic Dream.”

I know, I know, you saw this one coming. If you’ve been following The Able Fables for a while, you’re probably getting antsy. I get it! I feel antsy, too. This whole journey has taken me about two times longer than I would have liked, but boy have I learned a lot. I am aiming for an August release! Y’all, I am pumped to get my baby out into the world, but I am also SO DANG TERRIFIED. People can be so mean on the internet. 2 years of my life have gone into this book, and I hope you love it as much as I do! I think it’s INCREDIBLE and I hope it will make a difference in the hearts and minds of many for years to come!

  1. Sell 10,000 books with in the first year of its release.

I wouldn’t be Nicole with a gigantic dream, now would I? Here is why I need and want to sell $10,000 copies of my book (p.s. I’ll need your help)! Each book will be an 8×10 hardcover, priced at $24.99. The best part, $4.99 of every single book purchased will be donated to inclusive parks and playgrounds around the USA and the world! With your help spreading the word, 10,000 books sold = $50,000 to inclusive playgrounds and parks. We can do it! Yeah!? Yeah!

  1. Start publishing book two of The Able Fables Series.

I’ll keep cranking out books as long as the good Lord keeps blessing me with the power of quirky little rhyming words 🙂 Side note, I’ve got other books written (not in The Able Fables series) waiting to be released too!

  1. (Self) Help me, (Self) Help you!

I started this blog, Dr. Nicole Julia and my personal instagram page @drnicolejulia because after working as a mental health OT for two years, I’ve realized the magnitude of “Practice What You Preach”. I am dang good at preaching, and I speak words of truth, and offer meaningful, action oriented steps to my patients, BUT I don’t always take my own advice. I want to, though. I went part time at work so that I can have more time for me. More self care, more chasing dreams, more living ON purpose. Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing all the tools that I have made for myself and my clients. They will change you for the better, I just know it! I’m ready to grow with you! Our mental health and well being matters, and it’s time we make time to work towards our ideal selves.

  1. Make meaningful new connections and friendships.

It’s been all work and no play this last year: working full time, starting a business, planning a wedding, flipping a house. But, it’s time to make new friends, which can be pretty difficult as an adult. This year I want to connect in person with more internet friends, I want to make new girlfriends, and couple friends, and make it a point to see old friends. Sooo.. this is awkward, but.. Who wants to be my friend!? haha.

  1. Get back to volunteering.

It’s been 2 years of full on adulting, and I am not gonna lie – It’s not my favorite. Take me back to the care free, bill-less days of being a kid! Sometimes, I’m on top of the world, smiling and singing, and laughing, and other times I feel stuck. When I look back on some of the best times of my life, I was volunteering. It was a HUGE part of my life from age 15-27, and now it’s non-existent. Therefore, I must get back. Comment below with some of your favorite places to volunteer!

  1. Do more of what scares me.

I almost kept my books a secret. My internal dialogue was telling me they were stupid. I almost didn’t go to the music video where I fell for my fiance. I almost didn’t start a business because I have zero clue what I am doing. I almost didn’t go part time because I have loans to pay. But, all of these decisions have led me down beautiful paths, journeys I am in awe of. So, let’s do more of what scares us. It’s gonna make us better humans.

  1. Strengthen and grow my relationship with my soon to be husband!

I love self help, self improvement, personal growth. Sometimes I focus so much on me, me, me – my work, my feelings, my path, my business, my wants, my needs. I’ve been blessed with the best man, truly. He’s the most selfless, fun-loving, easy-going, supportive, handsome, crazy talented musician, best friend and partner. More than I ever dreamed up for myself, better than every dream guy I prayed to God for. I cannot wait to marry him, and work on growing together as one!

  1. Travel

I’ve never been to California, or Arizona. I want to go to Montana, and Washington so bad! I’d love to see Norway, Sweden, and Finland, and travel in Europe a little bit! Good thing were saving $$$ on our wedding so we can travel! Where should we go?

  1. Open the “Human with You House” an AirBnB

I’m pretty excited about this one! We’re turning Jordan’s home of 10+ years into an AirBnB called “The Human with You House”. It’ll be a space to recharge, reflect, and reset. Decorated with all the inspirational and motivational sayings and quotes. There will be a pretty mural, too for the perfect insta photo with your crew! Later this year, I will also be releasing my Human With You™ clothing line, and hopefully my podcast in 2020!

Friends, tell me some of your most “Gigantic Dreams” in the comments below, I would love to hear them!

  1. If you are ever in Minnesota again, I’d love to grab coffee with you! Always looking for new friends who are just as passionate about inclusion as I am! 🙂

  2. Working for a dog rescue that did mobile pet adoptions on the weekend was amazing and hilarious. I’d often leave with some form of pee or poo on my person but always with a full heart. It was tough to see the same dog be passed up every weekend, but (getting teary eyed just thinking about it) when that dog finally found their person and that person found their new best friend, those were some of the best days of my life 🙂

I love hearing from you beautiful humans!
